TURTLE RESCUE OF FLORIDA

TURTLE RESCUE OF FLORIDA, INC. is dedicated to rescue, adopt and provide a safe sheltered habitat, and optimum care to all species of freshwater and land turtles and tortoises. Because of our love for these creatures, we have spent the last twelve years housing, feeding and providing for turtles, utilizing our personal time, money and resources. Due to the incredible expansion of our rescue population and the subsequent increase in physical and monetary responsibilities, we have recently incorporated as a nonprofit organization.

There are many reasons why we initially founded this rescue; lack of general knowledge about turtles and tortoises, poor pet trade practices, strict governmental regulations prohibiting many facilities from accepting non-native species, and the lack of safe, natural habitats. It seems that many people purchase cute little turtles and tortoises without realizing that they both grow and live very long lives requiring a lot of special care. If not offered any alternative, desperate owners will often release their pets to fend for themselves, a very poor, often deadly solution for the pet’s welfare.

Due to the tremendous success of our website, Turtlefound.com, we have already helped turtles and turtle owners all over the USA! We answer every email, and every question. Numerous people have brought us their turtles, while others have sent us their turtles (and tortoises) from as far as California and Michigan! It has become crystal clear to us that the need for our service and facilities is genuine and growing.

We are working very hard to maintain our Miami and Ocala turtle sanctuaries. It is our sincere hope that with the help of individuals and organizations, we will be able to continue to expand so that we may provide for every turtle and tortoise in need.
